Digital Content Producer, KVUE, 2015-Current
- Write web posts pertaining primarily to breaking, timely news topics. I also write web posts regarding trending social media topics and Texas culture on a daily basis
- Report, write and photograph feature and news stories that bring above-average traffic to KVUE.com. Through my own thorough reporting and research, I have covered various subjects and created both long-form articles and articles of traditional length
- Attend events such as South by Southwest Festival to shoot and write stories while managing KVUE’s social media accounts in order to create a presence at the events
- Analyze the performance of posts on KVUE.com and social media using tools such as Chartbeat and Crowdtangle. I also determine what is trending online each morning and compile it into a report for the editorial meeting. The report impacts which stories are pitched and pursued in the meeting
- Collaborate with reporters and producers in order to tease upcoming stories in the newscasts on social media. I also coordinate with reporters and anchors in order to promote KVUE’s brand
- Share stories and posts on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram along with KVUE’s mobile app. Engage with followers on social media
- Aggregate international, national and regional stories through other Tegna websites and TV stations
- Vetted and helped interview job candidates looking to fill digital content producer positions
Reporting intern, KUT/StateImpact Texas, Spring 2014
- Wrote blog posts and produced audio stories regarding environmental and energy news for KUT’s StateImpact Texas
- To accompany blog posts, I shot and edited photos. I also produced audio stories, two of which broadcasted live on Morning Edition
- Assisted senior reporters with daily assignments through research and writing
- Contributed to All Things Considered through assignments spontaneously assigned to me
